Formed in 1988, our scope of business centers around five major client needs:

bullet

Fire investigation and failure analysis of fire protection systems

bullet

Litigation support and case management

bullet

Planning and design of fire prevention and protection systems and emergency communications strategies and systems

bullet

Analysis of fire protection system performance and/or malfunctions

bullet

Fire protection, fire prevention, emergency management, emergency communications and mass notification educational seminars and programs

Special Applications:

bullet

Specializing in fire and smoke detection, alarm systems, occupant and staff notification, signaling and emergency communications.

bullet

We have the capability of conducting detailed noise surveys, including 1/3 octave band analysis and OSHA DOSE surveys.  Designing fire alarm systems for narrow band signaling can significantly increase effectiveness and decrease system costs.  See the sample report on the Resources page.

bullet

We can also model the intelligibility of emergency voice alarm communication systems, Mass Notification Systems (MNS) and paging systems in accordance with NFPA 72 and IEC standards.  Our equipment, software and methodologies permit measurements in spaces before occupancy and calculation of the expected intelligibility during occupied periods.

Typical Projects

bullet

Reconstruction, investigation and analysis of system performance during fires.

bullet

Management of case documents and information using LexisNexis CaseMap, TextMap and TimeMap along with our IQ File™  system.

bullet

Analysis of an existing system's ability to meet specific goals or building codes.

bullet

Design of fire detection, signaling and protection systems for commercial, industrial, institutional and residential occupancies.

bullet

Research codes and provide detailed analysis of origin, intent and applicability.

bullet

Perform hazard and risk analyses and make recommendations for prevention, protection and mitigation.

bullet

Determination of the cause and remedy of detection system false alarms.

bullet

Presentation of educational programs for inspectors, plans reviewers, engineers, owners, managers and installers.

bullet

Measurement of 1/3 octave band noise, voice system intelligibility and OSHA DOSE (noise) surveys.

bullet

Study of ambient noise and designation of Acoustically Distinguishable Spaces per NFPA 72.

bullet

Assist owners in developing comprehensive Emergency Plans and emergency communications strategies, including review and selection of Emergency Communications Systems and Mass Notification Systems.

bullet

Development of performance based requirements and specifications for fire prevention and protection systems.

bullet

Review plans and specifications.  Provide comments on performance and code compliance.

bullet

Organize and conduct independent reviews of equipment, contractors and vendors.  Provide documentation of review and assist in the selection.

bullet

Evaluate contractor and vendor submittals and shop drawings.  Determine system's ability to meet intent of specifications, drawings and codes.

bullet

Set-up and witness final tests and inspections of fire protection systems.  Prepare system punch-lists and follow-up on task completions.
